How to Eat Healthy When You Are Busy

    easy ways to eat healthy

In our rushing world, it is not easy to find time for having a complete, healthy meal. In most of the cases, we gulp down a cup of coffee, or soda, chew on a piece of hamburger or bakery, and that is all.

It is no surprise that we usually feel tired, burned out, and get various illnesses regularly.

You are what you eat! If you do not provide the right type and amount of nutrients for your body, do not be surprised that it does not function well.

But eating healthy takes too much time! How much time do you spend watching TV and staring at your cell phone daily? An hour is a minimum. Spend that on your health instead.

Even making some small changes in your lifestyle can get great results. Here I would like to share some tips on eating healthy on the go that does not require massive changes even if you are busy all day long.

    1. Bring a Water Bottle Everywhere to Be Hydrated

Most of us do not take in enough water daily, which can cause dehydration and several diseases in the long run. You should drink at least 2-3 liters of water daily to keep your body hydrated.

Buy a small bottle and fill it up with mineral water! Put that bottle next to you and get used to drinking some all day long. You can even buy a collapsible water bottle which is even more comfortable.

Do not make the mistake of drinking sugar-free drinks instead. They may do not hold sugar but full of artificial ingredients. If you are bored with water, drink green tea or other healthy teas instead. Or, make infused water from the fruits you like.

    2. Have a Piece of Healthy Snack in Your Bag

It can be anything that you can consume fast and nutritious. For example, I usually take a piece of fruit with me, such as bananas, oranges, apples, dried figs, or my homemade snacks. You can also take some nuts.

If you have no time to eat at work, you can consume these goodies quickly. They hold vitamins, minerals, good carbs, and few calories that help to keep going on.

    3. Don’t have junk food at home

After a hard day who wants to cook? It is easier to get into the kitchen and find a package of something to fill the stomach. A pack of biscuits, donuts, chips, etc. And, sit in front of the TV to switch off the brain after the daily craziness.

The worst types of foods are mainly the ones we pick in front of the TV. If you get rid of those bad foods, you make a vital step towards a healthier life.

The simplest way if you do not have any junk at home. This way, you will be forced to cook something easy instead.

If you cannot live without eating something yummy for TV watching, get healthy snacks. For example, fruits, veggies, nuts, and other healthy snacks. By the way, forget soda even the diabetic one! Drink water or flavor it with some lemon or orange.

    4. Shop Wisely in Advance

Before getting into the shop to buy your weekly meal, make a shopping list of healthy foods, and stick to it. Plan what you are going to eat on workdays for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. Buy what you need, so everything will be at your hands. Don’t buy any unhealthy stuff at all.

Most fruits and veggies do not spoil for a few days if you store them properly. Nuts and dried things are Ok for a long time. But, you should store the lean meat and fish in the freezer.

    5. Have a smoothie for breakfast

A healthy breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Hence, you should not neglect it. I know, most of us do not have time to sit down and have a complete, freshly-made breakfast. For those, a smoothie is a good alternative. You can make a smoothie in no time, or you can make it the day before. Gulping down a portion does not take so much time, but it will provide the right type and amount of nutrients you need to start the day.

    6. Go to Healthy Restaurants

If you do not have time for lunch, the most obvious solution is to get into a fast-food restaurant. But, you just a get a calorie bomb and no healthy nutrients for your body.

Fortunately, there are more and more restaurants that offer healthy meals made from quality ingredients. If you have no time to make your dishes, prefer these health food restaurants. They are maybe a bit more expensive, but your health is the first.

I’m sure not far away from your workplace there is a restaurant where you can eat something nutritious.

    7. Prepare Your Meals

If you cook something, you can put it in the fridge. It will not spoil. So, in the morning, you just get it out, and you have a good lunch. You can also make your healthy sandwiches the day before, just wrap them up.

For most of the people cooking at home seems to be something that does not fit into their busy schedule. Firstly, it is not hard to find healthy recipes that take less than half an hour to make. Plus, the more you cook, the more experienced you are going to be. Cooking your easy healthy foods to eat is a habit that you have to take up.

    8. Drink Tea Instead of Coffee

To tell the truth, I’m a coffee lover, but I always drink my homemade one without sugar. The problem with the coffees you buy in the streets is that they are usually full of sugar and other artificial ingredients.

On the other hand, tea is as good freshener and there hundreds of types of teas out there. You can make your tea at home and bring it in your mentioned bottle. But do not use sugar.

The best is green tea, which has many health benefits, and it even helps with losing weight.

These are my suggestions on eating healthy on a busy schedule. If it is possible, you should also include some exercising, even it is 10 minutes daily. Give your body what it needs, and it will function well.

Always take time to eat something healthy even if you work like mad! 🙂
