Simple Ways to Have More Real Foods
Since most of us don’t eat all the right foods, and not in their natural and unaltered shape, preferring processed foods and fast-foods, the nutrient intake is far from being the right one.
To make sure that the body benefits from the right type of nutrients, you need to eat fresh foods, or at least processed in the smallest degree, which come from reliable sources, making sure that have not been treated with pesticides or other chemicals. Such food sources are highly valuable for the body. So eating canned carrots is not like eating them fresh. Nutrients are destroyed through food processing, and this is why most foods are more valuable raw and fresh.
Of course, you won’t eat eggs or meat raw, but to preserve the nutrients, you have to cook them correctly. Boiling or roasting, in the case of meat, is preferred, instead of frying them in oil.
Also, the meat should not be cooked on an open fire or kept too much at high temperatures. Fried and burned meat becomes rather toxic than nutritious, this is why it is important to cook it right.
Unfortunately, the highly processed foods we find today on most store shelves do not respect this rule. The food is fried in oil and cooked at very high temperatures because this way it cooks faster and the manufacturer can produce more in less time. This is what happens in fast-food restaurants. The idea is to cook food very quickly, so a large number of customers are served in a short period. Apparently profit is much more important than the health and well-being of people, the result being an unhealthy and obese population.
We should be more careful about what we eat, focusing on quality and not on quantity. A well-fed body will always be healthier and fitter.
